Dr. Ken Taylor, his wife Denise, and Jane Gordon help AMD for Hope from the first days of war in Ukraine. In over 30 years ago, NJT has spread to chapters across the world, with over 10,000 suitcases and 1,000,000+ lbs of medical supplies and equipment delivered to 82 countries.
We are the parish of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Canada in the city of Niagara Falls. Our parish was founded in 1952 by natives of Ukraine who emigrated to Canada in search of a better life. And they knew the immutable truth that passed from generation to generation along with mother’s milk – no matter where you are alone, no matter what difficulties you endure – if you have God and prayer in your heart, you will overcome everything. Despite the challenges of today, we try to live according to the commandments of God, while preserving our traditions and culture.
More than 100 volunteers give their time, talents and ideas to the operation of the NWoH. To date, the NWoH donated, packed and shipped two 40ft containers to Ukraine with medical, supplies, hospital beds, medical equipment, and layettes. And more is yet to come!
For the Needy, not the Greedy gave a large donation of wheelchairs and medical supplies which was picked up in Niagara Falls, destined for the war zone in Ukraine in the second container. Together with Jim Krawec's family, we are in the process of planning the third container with more donations from FTNNTG!
• Feed the hungry • Bless our local growers and volunteers Gleaning is a biblical concept in which God instructed farmers to leave a portion of their crops for the poor to gather. Niagara Christian Gleaners seeks to demonstrate Christ’s love and grace by sharing the abundance of produce that we enjoy with those around the world who are in need.
Several non-profits in Niagara have partnered with AMD for Hope to supply a Ukrainian organization called Stay Safe UA, who are braving the danger to make the deliveries. Stay Safe UA delivers everything from food to medical aid and even medical materials.
"We are people who are passionate about our community, the environment, and giving gently used items a second home."
